One year ago - we brought Maximus to the doctor for his three year checkup, and voiced concerns about his speech. He was unable to say more than three word sentences.
A few weeks later he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder - Pervasive Development Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified.
One year later - when the doctor walked in at his four year checkup he said "Hello doctor. My name is Max Gurney. What's your name?" She couldn't believe how far he has come in just 8 months in the compass program.
I can't thank our family, friends, and Project Support enough for their support and dedication to our son over the last year. I cry every day that he accomplishes something that some people said would take a long time to accomplish, if ever, and am so proud of the wonderful boy he was, is, and will someday be.
